Week 1 – Customs & Culture: Come face to face with China and say ni hao!
This week is the first step towards a great stay in a new country! It is designed so that you can avoid culture shock and be eased into the Chinese ways of doing things.
Week 2 & 3 – Community volunteering: Going to China is like entering into a totally new world: the time is completely different, as well as the air that you breathe, the nature, the colours and, of course, the ancient and well respected culture and traditions of the Chinese people. These weeks give you the opportunity to experience all this as well as being a responsible traveller by making a positive contribution during your stay. Typically two weeks of teaching English in China. All training provided.
Week 4 – Activities: This week will take place in & around Yangshuo. The 37-mile long river section in the Yangshuo area is the essence of the famous Li River cruise. The Yingping Landscape, Yangdi Landscape and Yulonghe Scenic Area are known as the best of the Li River attractions. The rural charms of peasant villages, fields and rivers aside the Guilin-Yangshuo Speedway have attracted many off-thebeaten-track travellers and cycling adventurers.
PANDA CONSERVATION

* Hands on Panda support, feeding, breading and research
* No experience required as full training provided.

Itinerary
After arriving into Gualin you’ll head straight up to Cheng-du to complete an introduction weekend, with visits to a Taoist temple and the historic Kuan-zhai Alley, before getting stuck in with the Pandas!
The Panda project is based near Chengdu, in the east of Mt. Qionglai, and just a 3-hour drive away from the city. Once you’ve had your panda training and orientation you’ll begin assisting the Panda keepers in their daily tasks. This might include cleaning the panda’s living quarters, preparing food for them, gathering bamboo and helping with Panda research.
You’ll work Monday-Friday roughly 8.30am – 5pm at the reserve but will have weekends off to explore the reserve and surrounding areas as you wish. Although the reserve is fairly remote there are villages to visit by bus at weekends, and for longer trips there are towns and cities in the Province that are definitely worth a visit!
