BAHAMAS - FIELD UPDATES - WEEK 9
The Week That Was- Week 9, Phase 23 18th-24th June 2007

Sunday was a day of relaxation.
Monday was another day of diving and getting some more RDT’s done. A few people were also shown how to do belt transect surveys.
Tuesday we all went out on two sailing boats for the day. We sailed to a spot in the ocean called High Cay where there was a small blue hole and we snorkeled about for a while. We also had a lunch of turkey, cheese and pepperoni sandwiches, which everybody loved.
One of the boats also caught a fish, but half of the fish was eaten by a shark that came and snapped it away when the fish was being reeled in. When we got back to camp that night, we had the half a fish for dinner. It was a great day sailing and even Oli said it was cool!!
On Wednesday more surveys were done but everyone was looking forward to the night dive we had planned. Unfortunately, we got out on the boat and kitted up only to be disappointed by a thunderstorm coming our way.
Thursday was more diving. That night we finally did the night dive. Everyone really enjoyed the dive and we didn’t manage to lose anyone in the dark. We also saw a nurse shark.
Friday was a fun diving day and we all got up a little bit earlier and went to the AUTEC buoy. We all saw a silky shark. On the second dive of the day, we went to Jeremy’s Jungle & Eel gardens. It was a really nice place to dive and we saw little eels coming out of the sand. On the way back from the dive, a dolphin was swimming along by the boat, but when people tried to get in the water it swam away.
Now we are on Saturday and we have been diving at the amphitheatre, where we dived around the coral going in and out of the swim throughs. It was really good and felt like we were exploring.
Tonight is our last Saturday night so Erin and me are organizing a drinking games night which should be really good.
