WHERE WILL YOU BE DOING THE TRAINING?

The programme operates in Egypt in a small town called Dahab which is about 90km north of Sharm el Sheikh on the Sinai Peninsula.

Dahab means 'gold' in Arabic. In Sinai, however, it actually means golden sands, turquoise sea and off-beat cafe life. The town itself mainly consists of two villages; the Bedouin village of Assalah in the southern half, with the business and administrative centre of Dahab to the north. Dahab should be experienced for what it currently has to offer; Egyptian and Bedouin culture, exquisite diving and its beautiful setting with swaying palms, fine sand and wonderful snorkelling and diving opportunities.

ON ARRIVAL

On arrival, you will be met at Sharm el Sheikh Airport and transferred to Dahab (about 1 hour by minibus). Once in Dahab, Tom will meet you and show you to your accommodation which overlooks the pool and Red Sea.

The next morning the dive training commences. It’s about a 30 second walk from the accommodation to the dive centre, where, after the welcome briefing and culture and customs orientation, you’ll be kitted up and learning to dive!

LEARN TO DIVE COURSES

In both learn-to-dive programmes, we include the PADI Open Water Diver and PADI Advanced Open Water courses.

The PADI Open Water course teaches you the fundamentals of scuba diving and it is the first internationally recognised qualification. On completion of the course you will be qualified to dive any where around the world, in conditions equal to or better than those in which you trained, to a maximum depth of 18m without the need for supervision from an Instructor.

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course fine tunes your dive skills. From deep dives to amazing drift dives, this in-water, performance based programme has something for everyone and includes a total of five Adventure Dives.

Successful completion of the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course allows you to participate in more advanced diving activities to a maximum recommended depth limit of 30 metres.

YOUR TIME THERE

Most days you will be in around the dive centre doing your diver training courses. Lessons are relaxed and informal and are held in classrooms and on the beach with one of our professionally trained Instructors. In-water training sessions are operated in the confined water area just outside the dive centre and Open Water dives are conducted at a host of incredible dive sites situated on your doorstep – the nearest reef (The Lighthouse Reef) is no more than 10 metres from the dive centre!

Open Water dives are spectacular and the diving can best be described as ‘diving in a giant tropical fish tank’! You can expect to see everything from tiny sea slugs and shrimps to clownfish, barracudas, moray eels, turtles, lionfish and schools of dolphins! These are just some of the awesome creatures you will have a chance to see in the crystal clear blue waters of Dahab!

ACTIVITIES AND RELAXATION

Between the dives you can relax and sunbathe around our fantastic new pool or on our private beach. There’s plenty of time for a little R&R and we always ensure that there’s time for you to chill out and relax.

We also put on a range of activities during your stay. These range from volleyball tournaments at the local pub to in-house BBQ’s at the dive centre. Depending on the programme you choose, you may also get the chance to do some more cultural activities! The camel safari to Ras Abu Gallum is brilliant fun and the quad biking excursion into the desert is fast and dusty!
